New Zealand - Lakes
We left the west coast of the South Island and headed
inland, spending the night first at the scenic alpine town of Wanaka, then at a
little cottage in the middle of farm country to chill for a couple of days. Along
the way we made a point to take a couple of short hikes and stop at innumerable
viewpoints, often of lakes and other bodies of water featuring that beautiful
glacial blue color. At the farm cottage, which was a brand new AirBnB listing,
Deborah ended up tidying up, decluttering, organizing and rearranging the furniture for the
host, who was thrilled with the results. So much for chilling.
The Blue Pools. Usually even more blue except for recent rain muddying things up.
A field of cairns near the blue pools. Something of a tradition here apparently.
