New Zealand - East Catlins

Continuing our exploration of The Catlins area in the southeast corner of the South Island we saw a couple of beautiful waterfalls after short hikes through the rainforest, some nice beach views, the spectacular coast at Nugget Point Lighthouse, and we had a pair of sea lions come ashore just a few meters away from us on the beach at Surat Bay. Warm sunny weather didn’t hurt either.

Same sea lions as in the video. We were watching them play out in the bay for a long time and then they just came onto shore right in front of us. I actually had to back up to give them more space.
