Australia-Medical and Music-Deborah posting
As a couple Blake and I always seem to have our specific roles in our relationship - the ones we each tend to prefer. When we travel it does not change too much for Blake. He is still CFO of our family unit and I am CDE (chief domestic engineer). So my daily roles get easier for the most part and I have so much freedom, which equates to more free time. In Australia at our house sit I still did all the daily domestic duties as I do at home; but somehow was still less and I wound up with an abundance of free time even with all the sightseeing we did! I have had to learn how to enjoy the free time I suddenly find myself with. It’s a really lovely experience.
Blake likes to do our blog and he is really good at it. I even read it! That is the truth. LOL I mostly post on my facebook page about our activities, which includes many selfies of us that I know embarrass Blake. That in turn makes me want to take more. He is so adorable when he gets all uncomfortable.
While in Australia I had the unfortunate luck to have an old root canal tooth with a badly fitting crown break. I had to wait 4 days to have it extracted. I was in big pain and really sad to give up a tooth. Not to mention it's costly to do, especially if you do a tooth implant later. I miss my tooth and I keep biting myself! So replacement is a must, but, because the tooth was infected, the process cannot start until 6 months after extraction. UGH! I had a good dental team there and it all went relatively smoothly.

In addition to my tooth calamity I had a frozen shoulder. That happens periodically for me due to my former 38 year career as a hairdresser. The bed we slept on in Australia was not a great fit for Blake and me. It was too small and too soft for our needs, so we both were struggling. I ended up having five physical therapy treatment massages, that were painful enough to make me cry and scream a bit but effective in getting the shoulder more bearable.

When we moved from Hawaii I sold my Martin guitar and purchased a baritone ukulele as it is easier to travel with. It is really just a guitar with 4 strings instead of 6. You tune it the same, the chords forms are the same and often even easier to play given it has only 4 strings. The sound is that of a classical guitar. I really like it. I am self taught and have not had the time in my life to truly learn to play well. My goal really is to be able to accompany myself on an instrument so I can sing. I am a person who needs artistic outlets. I was lucky enough to be a hairdresser in my life and that let me create at work daily. Now I am retired and I want to pursue my true love Music.
Here are 3 videos of songs I wrote while in Australia. Also some pictures while we was there.
